The Stats section is meant to be a 'reference-only' section and only Statman can post/edit in that section. If he wants to open it up for anyone to post, I will leave that up to him to decide...

A couple of years ago, Snooker Scene published an article on the 1957 final between Pulman and Rea, which included the referee’s name. He was a local Jersey man I believe. Must look it up.

I have made a start on the Player Stats section (W-Z) and the Yearly Figures (1977), so have a look and let me know what you think.

I am doing the Player Stats in reverse alphabetical because I think most people view the threads listed latest-reply-first. So when I've finished A will be at the top and W at the bottom.

That's the idea anyway.

Well, not quite. I am adding the codes into a column in Excel, between the two 'real' columns. So Excel will automatically give me blue frame scores for one player's win and red for the other's.

A bit painstaking, but will get there eventually!

Yes Statman, you are making impressive headway. Do you have a link for people to follow to buy your book? You should put it at the bottom of each post...

The editor does work with tables to some extent, although statman's way is probably easier for the amount of stuff he's posting.

1. Start off a table by putting <table border=1><tr><td>test</td></tr></table> into your post.

2. Switch editor mode to formatted by clicking the 'switch editor mode' button in the top right of the post editor (a/A button above the smileys).

3. You can extend and write into the table using this view, it's probably easier to experiment with than it is for me to try to explain it here, but briefly if you click inside the cell you get a button that looks like < x >. Press the arrows to add cells and x to delete the row/column, click inside the cells and type to add text.

Curtis, would it be possible to split the recent stats threads off from the 'recent threads' view on the homepage (perhaps into a 'recent stats' section below)? Much as the stats threads are appreciated the fact that they now fill the homepage and other users aren't allowed to post to them might look a bit daunting to visitors. Just a thought.

Good point, Robert - I set the whole Stats section to be hidden from all but Moderators and Admin. When Statman is complete, I will turn it back on.

Pitty that the Stats are hidden for a while, enjoyed reading through them. There probably will be a massive load of them, once they will be open to the public again, so I rather enjoyed the installments.

Isn't there a way to just not show them on the recent threads on the home page, but still be able to view the section?

The best ref IMHO is Alan Chamberlain but they won't give him the final again as he's knocking on a bit and that doesn't promote the same image as Tabb or Verhaas. Refereeing skill's are of only secondary importance.
