Anyone know which matches eurosport will be showing??
Wenbo vs Allen has the potential to be a really good match if both players are on form.
Would love Trump to beat selby but can't really see it happening.
It really is about time robbo had a decent run in a tournament, he certianly needs it looking at his provisional ranking, anyway fingers crossed for the aussie.
and of course......C'MON JIMMY!!!!!

It's a problem with the feed on table 1. They may go to the Davis match if they get it working again.

Tom Ford having a bit of a nightmare, making all the difficult pots and then missing sitters. Should take the last frame before the interval though.

Dale - Davis 2-1
Stevens - Perry 1-1
Trump - Selby 1-2
Higgins - Ford 3-1

It's a shame they are showing the least interesting match on eurosport. Higgins is cruising there.
Ekphantos
30th September 2008, 09:15 AM
Ford took the last frame before the interval, hope he can improve after the break to make the match more interesting (but let Higgins win in the end ;))
Did Davis-Dale fall asleep during their 4th frame or is the ES live ticker not updating?
Can anyone recommend a better live ticker? Worldsnooker doesn't work for me either

Unfortunatelly this is so true. Lets say he was bit unlucky too.. Anyway smth breaks in his game , dunno whats not working exactly , either its lack of practice, either he can't focus properly..
He has to do better than this if he wants to go up in the rankings at the end of the season.

Still 2-2 in Davis match according to GSC.
Smths wrong with the cameras on table 1..so no images from there. Hope they fix that till Ronnies match.
EDIT. Perry-Stevens match is over, Perry won it 5-1.
And we'll have a decider in Higgins-Ford match.
Rane

i have been watching Higgins - Ford a little on off. What happened ? It looks like Higgins has broken down very early in positions where he should make at least a good or even a frame winning break in the last two frames ? Have anyone seen it? 4-4 with a 113 break from Ford.

Higgins missed a few uncharacteristic ones since the beginning of the match. Before the interval Ford seemed unable to punish him and capitalise ... but now it seems he's there!

Fuu, also if there will be no upload - open the page with four-tables stream and scroll down, and you'll see tumbnails for the videos - right now there are at least some frames of Higgins match there. The quality is not that good, but better than nothing :)
Also I have the deciding frame, can send you the file if you want.
And if you go back several pages, there are videos from opening ceremony with players' interviews.

I'm watching the videos right now. It's so rare you see tom playing and he's a really great guy, so I really hate that I missed the match. especially against john, who's totally one of my favs. but well, what can you do.

Strange, perfect picture here both today and yesterday.
Hendry looked good really, hit 71 before missing a red with the white on the cushion. Walden made 14 but missed a red to the left centre which allowed Hendry to get 31 before Walden conceded.
No balls potted yet in frame two.

Star tables are from China I believe, they do the tables for the Premier League as well though.
Long fifth frame in the Hendry match, he keeps getting nice reds and then not landing on a colour.
Walden in a tricky snooker here though.
Rane
30th September 2008, 02:40 PM
Ronnie finished with a classical 138, but for some reason after potting 13 blacks, he took the pink ball instead of trying to go after the more difficult maximum. I would like to see the situation once again.
And he was on for the tournament high break with 145, but hammered the black into the cushion instead of playing it with slow pace, strange.

Actually quite good stuff from Stephen here, had to be very patient and wait for his chance. Hasn't done anything stupid which he might have done a couple of years ago.
57-0 up with five reds left. Four of them are in a cluster on the side cushion though so it's a huge lead really.

Hendry actually did not play too bad, did he? He tied the match at 4-4, and then his opponent just never made another mistake winning with a break of 80+ or something like that. Feel bad for Hendry, but dont think it was really like he played bad.

Hendry didn't play dreadfully but he was too inconsistent. He had frames like the opener, the fifth and the clearance at 3-4 where he looked really good, but in the rest he missed some poor shots and generally presented Walden with chances that he couldn't miss.
Basically looks good in the balls and capable of scoring, but struggled to actually create an opening unless Walden gifted him one. Also looked dodgy when faced with any shot that was less than straightforward.

Ding has never been the same player since the final of the 2007 masters when osullivan was at his best and beat him 10-3, since then ding has been the shadow of the player he was and has lost his confidence. Murphy warns of hampered chances
Snooker
Date: 30 September 2008
ROTHERHAM potter Shaun Murphy has warned that a lack of practice could hamper his chances of success at this week's Shanghai Masters.
Murphy, 26, begins his assault on the crown with a first round clash against Andy Hicks tomorrow.
But the world number three, and 2005 world champion, has only spent two weeks on the table because of a busy off-season.
"Because of some commitments I had to complete at the back end of the summer, I have only actually been able to get on the table in the last couple of weeks, so my preparation hasn't been great," explained Murphy.
"I was very pleased with how I finished last season, so I haven't been working on anything too specific in practice, mainly just trying to get the scoring and safety sides of my game working together in unison.
"I have been working hard, and my form in the club has been very good.
"I am reasonably happy, but with my time away from the table over the last few weeks I'd be happy with anything past the quarter-finals."
Murphy is provisionally ranked number two in the world after an impressive season last year, but is adamant that he is not immune from a shock in the Far East.
"With it being the first tournament of the season, everyone will be feeling their way. There might be the odd shock, but I'd be happy to reach the last eight. I'm looking no further than that, really," he added.
Now Mr Murphy it's not the first tournament ... it's the second!

Harold was 2/1 to beat him. A gift considering their rankings. Obviously, Ding has been off form for a while now, but even a couple of years ago he used to struggle in some of the qualifiers and be quite inconsistent. He would win a tournament and then fail to qualify for the next.
Chance for Harold to win frame and match.

Fu is usually quite slow to start off with in the season I think. They were showing the match in the Maguire-Hawkings mid-session interval on Eurosport. I agree, they hardly had any viewers. I think everyone wanted to watch Wenbo beat Ryan but unfortunately, The Fearless is the The Defeated.
Fu won the GP last year though ... that was only the secong tournie of the season methinks.
What a miss from Hamilton, at 57 - 64 he makes a thin clip on the black just to leave it in front of the pocket. 2 - 2
Yes ... urge to pull my hair at both! Will refrain though ;)

Ryan Day is steam rolling Wenbo. :o
Was it Day playing good or Wenbo taking silly chances ?

Looks like Anthony Hamilton is blowing his chances at the minute. From 2-0 up, now 4-2 down. He's had chances in three of the last four frames.
Maguire may fall over the line in this frame, but hasn't been overly convincing, although Hawkins is a decent player.

Mags did his best to keep the match alive and gave Barry a good few chances to go for a decider. But Barry won't have it!
Both unconvincing!

Maguire through, but needs to improve.
Fu also going through, but also helped by his opponent missing chances.

Ryan was just like he usually is, great allround game and not wasting the chances Wenbo gave him, which weren't that much to be fair.
I think Maguire is one of the most underrated players ever. He didn't even need to raise his game to beat an in form decent player like Barry. I definitely fancy him to be world number one *soon*.

Does anyone have an up-to-date provisional ranking list?
Should be some interesting matches, I am looking forward to Higgins-Day and Williams-Cope, but also O'Sullivan-Perry could be good. So basically most of the lower half of the draw ;) I guess Davis-Harold will be awfully slow...

Ah, good point that I forgot. Well, Marco is pretty inconsistent at times but I'll be expecting him to raise his game now that he's in the Top 16 and that he definitely has what it takes to win a title. I heard Joe Johnson was making a comment how he struggles more against the lower ranked players - I wonder why that is.
Also, I'm so glad that I got a pretty good university timetable, which means I'll be free to watch all day tomorrow and Friday. I can't wait for the O'Sullivan and Perry match but I believe Ronnie will take this one. In his post match interview from Monday (I think it was), he said that he wanted to work hard on his third successive title. I know China isn't exactly his thing but it sounds like he's up for it. I'm going to call a 5-4 defeat of Joe Perry. While others may call Perry a heavy-weight, I don't think I can quite agree with that term. I still think it's too early to tell now that he's only just started to play his better game.
Speaking of the other members of the Top 16 - what is going on?! Shaun is out in the first round. I never thought I'd be seeing that but he's playing rubbish - maybe Malta will give him back the confidence he needs but that's not until quite some time away.
Meanwhile, the result of the Ding match wasn't very surprising for me. Harold's at the top of his game and hopefully he can repeat the success he did in the North Ireland Trophy. I fancy him beating Davis.

Barry was no way in form. He missed again and again and was visibly annoyed with himself. Maguire did not need to raise his game, but he really did give Barry many chances! Far too much to be honest. Both were under their usual level.

does anyone know the schedule tomorrow ? when is ronnie playing ?
According to Worldsnoker , Ronnie is due to play in the evening session , 7.45 pm Beijing time ( 12.45 UK time).
IN fact , i think the 4 matches in the first half of the draw will be in the morning session(afternoon in Beijing) , and those in the second half of the draw, in the evening.
